WHAT DOES A PATROL OFFICER DO?
Upon arrival at your facility,
the patrol officer first checks the surrounding area and exterior
of all buildings. Particular attention is paid to any unusual
vehicles or persons in the area. License numbers and descriptions
are recorded and observations reported.
Lights are reported if not switched on, are burnt out or
otherwise not functioning properly. You should be given constant
reminders to keep your security lighting above par.
Parking lots and employee vehicles are checked. The patrol
officer is looking for signs of damage to vehicles or unauthorized
persons or employees in this area. Company vehicles and equipment
are inspected for any irregularities.
Perimeter doors and windows are checked and reported if
found open, ajar, or unlocked. Particular attention is paid to access
doors from garage to office areas. If the patrol officer comes
across an unsecured window or door, he will secure the premise and
report it on his nightly report.
Shift activity is monitored to ensure employees are safe
and on the job. The visible presence of a security officer has
deterrent effect on employees thinking of engaging in activity
contrary to company policy. The patrol officer has open eyes, ears
and nose. Any unusual activity or odor is reported.
Office, plant and garage areas are inspected with attention
paid to alarms, doors, windows, temperature, leaking pipes,
equipment or machinery left running. Tool crib areas are inspected
to ensure they are secured. Lunch room areas inspected and numbers
in attendance may be noted. Unusual placement of tools or
inventory may also be noted.

Home Crime Prevention tips:
- Trim
bushes and other landscaping around your home to reduce
potential hiding places and shadows where intruders can hide.
- Prowlers
may be drawn to a dark and quiet home. Interior lighting, as well as other appliances set on a timer, can
discourage
criminals from breaking into your home.
- Encourage
your neighbors to install security lighting around their
homes. This will help keep prowlers away from the entire
neighborhood.
- While
you are away on vacation or gone for the weekend, ask a
trusted neighbor or friend to watch your home.
Copper Eagle Patrol & Security
provides this service in our residential patrol services.
- If
you're away for an extended time period, stop your mail and
newspaper delivery. Put indoor and outdoor lighting, as well
as a
television or radio, on a timer- don't let burglars know
you're gone.
- Join
your neighborhood community watch program. If there isn't one,
consider taking the initiative to form one.
- The use of a home security system further enhances the
safety of your family and home. Some neighborhood security
patrol
companies provide signs that can be posted in the front
yard, as an additional deterrent to would-be burglars.
